SECUNDA – A shoplifter was sentenced to six years’ direct imprisonment on Tuesday, 13 October.
The accused, Lucky Thabo Mnisi was arrested at the Eastside Spar in the Secunda CBD on 26 May and he appeared in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court.
He was released on bail, but then failed to appear in court again and a warrant of arrest was issued on 5 August.
Const MV Khoza, the investigating officer, apprehended Mnisi on 1 September.
Mnisi was sentenced on 3 September to a fine of R1 500 of two month’s imprisonment for failure to appear in court.
The court sentenced him on 13 October for the shoplifting charge.
