Dancers from the Julie-Ann School of Dance delivered an outstanding performance at the DTMA Mpumalanga Provincials, held in Evander from August 28 to 30, earning DTMA provincial colours, numerous overall titles and qualification for the DTMA South African Nationals.

The dancers will represent Mpumalanga at the national championships taking place in September at Carnival City.

The studio celebrated six special awards, with Diane van Wyk receiving the Personality and Presentation award, Aleah van Nieuwenhuizen recognised for Neat, Precision and Control, Lianke Louw for Neat and Effective Work, Amjah Pretorius for Promising and Amazing Feet, Aarya Fourie for Personality and Confidence, and Mia-Lee Visser receiving the All Up in Your Face and Just Amazing award.

JSD dancers also claimed an impressive list of overall category titles.

Fourie was crowned Overall Hip Hop Petite and Overall Petite Freestyle winner, Leja Viljoen won the Junior Hip Hop Novice, Junior Freestyle Pre-Amateur and Junior Disco Novice titles, while Kiarah Fourie took overall honours in Senior Contemporary Novice, Senior Open Novice and Senior Jazz Novice.

Other overall winners included Alissia Albasini, Pretorius, Zuandri Joubert, Hannah Wildey, Amone Kotze, Kwazi Matula, Hailey Smit, Hailey van den Berg, Visser and Carla van der Merwe in their respective divisions.

The studio also amassed an exceptional medal tally, with 22 first places, 24 second places and 15 third places across the provincial competition, highlighting the depth of talent within the school.

With provincial colours secured and national qualification achieved, the Julie-Ann School of Dance will now prepare for the DTMA South African Nationals in September.
