eMbalenhle-residents are concern over the dumping of fetuses

Municipal employee was traumatised after he found a fetus in a refuse bag.

eMBALENHLE – Municipal employees made a shocking discovery of a fetus while collecting waste in Extension 17 on Wednesday, 21 October.

The municipal worker said he could not believe his eyes when he saw the fetus in a refuse bag and he called the police.

The residents said a fetus is discovered somewhere every week and indicates that many women of all ages still resort to unsafe terminations outside legal and designated facilities.

“If you do not want a child, there are legal routes that you can follow besides illegal abortions and abandoning children in the sewers.

“Police must investigate this, ” said a concerned resident.

Const Busi Mthethwa, police spokesman, confirmed the incident and urged women who want to terminate their pregnancies to follow the legal route.

“We strongly believe that there are people who are performing illegal abortions and we need the community to help us bring them to book.”
