Man to appear in court for damaging of essential infrastructure in Kinross

KINROSS – Water supply to Kinross and Thistle Grove is once again affected after a gang of suspected copper cable thieves damaged the water reservoir next to Sasolia Primary School in Thistle Grove on Tuesday night.

Sgt Jaco Nagel, spokesman for Kinross Police, said members of Govan Mbeki Municipality’s law enforcement received information just before midnight on Tuesday, 27 October, that people were digging up copper cable and pump at the reservoir.

When the law enforcers arrived at the scene, they found the diggers hard at work.

The suspects scattered when they saw the officers approached.

The officers arrested one suspect and confiscated his vehicle that was on the scene.

They also confiscated a grinder, a 14 pound hammer and a bolt cutter.

The suspect is appearing in court today, 29 October.
