Sister Rautenbach says heartfelt farewell to Breyten Clinic after 34 years

Her passion, drive and commitment for caring for patients was something she always took pleasure in doing.

After 34 years of working at Breyten Clinic, the dedicated nurse, Sr Elsa Rautenbach, has officially retired from her post on 31 October.

Her passion, drive and commitment to caring for patients was something in which she always took pleasure.

She began her career in Breyten in 1986, where she worked three days per week in KwaZanele Clinic and two days per week in Breyten Clinic.

Sr Rautenbach said during her farewell speech that KwaZanele Clinic was the bigger and busier clinic, with Breyten Clinic being operated from only one room that was divided into a waiting room, consulting room, a storeroom and an office.

At KwaZanele Clinic she worked closely with Ms Emma Maseko, a general assistant Ms Rautenbach trained to be her right hand at the clinic.

She still remembered when she began working at both clinics, they delivered the first stock, and she had to sort and divide the stock for both clinics.

After 10 years of working at both clinics, and keeping both running smoothly, Sr Adri Khumalo was appointed at KwaZanele.
