How to mark your man cave territory
A fun man cave needs three important things: cold beer, a television on which to watch sports and conversation starters.
HIGHVELD – More and more men claim a space in their home that can be theirs, and theirs alone – besides a study of some sort.
Many men have a bar or braai area that they also consider as their personal space.
A man cave is exactly that – it is a male retreat or sanctuary in a home, such as a specially equipped garage, spare bedroom, media room, den basement or treehouse.
“A man cave is more than a glorified bar. It is your place where you surround yourself with things that are important to you. Your special collections, hobbies and things that matter to you,” explains a local businessman with the ultimate man castle.
He said it is also a great way of keeping your house clean if the husband and his friends retreat to the man cave to watch their sports games.
He wants to remain anonymous but gladly shares his tips on the must-haves list for a man cave.
Our mystery man says anyone can have a great man cave without spending too much money.
A fun man cave needs three important things: cold beer, a television on which to watch sports and conversation starters.
1. Cold beer
Make sure there is a fridge of some sort. It can be a huge cooler or a small bar fridge, as long as the beer and cooldrinks are cold.
2. Make your mark
This is your place so you have to put your unique mark on it. Decorate the man cave with all those things and memorabilia you collect, but may not display in the house. Your hobbies and interests, places you visited, your favourite sports things can all be displayed here.
These also make for good conversation starters.
3. A television
Although you might not be a sports fanatic, your friends might be and will enjoy the gesture
