Laerskool JJ van der Merwe hosted a bell ceremony for their grade 7 learners in Ermelo on 4 December.

Mr Herman Matthee, church minister, opened with prayer for the learners followed by a speech from Mr Marius Nel, principal of the school.

Jurgens Bezuidenhout, headboy of 2020, gave a speech on behalf of the grade 7 learners.

Thereafter, each learner had a chance to ring the bell.

Parents of the learners gathered for the proud moment and supported their children.

The learners ended off the event by throwing their school blazers in the air and bid farewell to the school.
