Shack in Ermelo burns down, another damaged after children play with gas bottle

According to Mr Zwane, the fire broke out after the children were playing with a gas bottle.

A shack burned down in Mabuza informal settlement today, 16 May.

According to Mr Mandla Zwane, spokesman for the Msukaligwa Municipality, the shack caught on fire due to a veld fire in the area.

“Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue Services attended the scene, and no injuries were reported.”

He added that the owner of the shack is still unknown.

Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue Services also attended another house fire in Magagula Street.

According to Mr Zwane, the fire broke out after children, who were allegedly left unattended, played with a gas bottle.

“The one-bedroom house was damaged, but fortunately no injuries were reported.”
