SECUNDA – The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) needs to keep a specific number of units of blood daily to ensure they can continue to save lives.
Ms Dot Prinsloo, donor relations practitioner of the SANBS’s branch in Secunda, urged the community to support the SANBS on Nelson Mandela Day that will be celebrated on July 18.
She said there are different ways the community can support them.
Those interested, can help to organise a group or community blood drive, spread the word, encourage a friend or family member to donate blood, read up on blood donation and educate others about blood donation, support a donor who is donating blood for the first time or become a volunteer at a local donor centre.
“Let us make a difference this Mandela Day,” said Ms Prinsloo.
Visit the donor centre in Secunda in Horwood Street or in Bethal near the Spar, or contact them at 017 631 1652 or 017 647 5598.
