Kinross-residents are fed up with sewage problems
Municipality cannot attend to sewage problems due to protests.
KINROSS – Residents in Protea Street in Kinross are fed up with sewage flowing down this street.
They have reported it to the Govan Mbeki municipal call centre two weeks ago, but nothing has been done to fix this problem.
Other areas of Kinross and in Secunda around the duck pond are also experiencing problems with sewage leakages.
“We cannot even take a shower because of the sewage problems,” said a resident.
“We are paying for services monthly, but there is no service delivery, why must we pay then?”
Mr Lucky Mhlongo, spokesman of Govan Mbeki Municipality, said because of protests in the area, the municipality is experiencing service delivery issues and the municipality is trying, by all means, to respond to the situation.
He apologised for any inconvenience caused.
He said residents can contact the call centre at 0800 6000 01/2/4 to report service delivery issues or send a WhatsApp message to 083 790 0659 or send an email to callcentre@govanmbeki.gov.za.
