TYT choir competition begins to kick off

ERMELO – The Township Youth Transformation (TYT), non profit organisation, kicked off their virtual music competition with schools in the Gert Sibande district.

This project focuses on encouraging learners with a talent for singing.

TYT invited choirs from schools in townships within the Gert Sibande district to compete for a grand prize, trophies and certificates.

Some of the schools that will be participating are:

• Ithafa Comprehensive School in Ermelo.

• Nganana Secondary School in Amsterdam.

• Masizakhe Secondary School in Breyten.

• Ndlela Secondary School in Mkhondo.

• Zinikeleni Secondary School in Carolina.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to the National Lottery for funding this initiative,” Mr Lindo Motau, secretary and project manager of TYT said.

He said , TYT began communicating with the schools regarding submissions of their school choirs with a school stamp signed by the principal.

The organisation have given schools two weeks to prepare themselves.

Thereafter, TYT will visit the schools to record a video of the choirs and upload it to their website and Facebook pages for the elimination round.

“This will take place to decrease the number of learners expected to compete in the final stage of the competition which will be held during the first week of September,” he concluded.
