Youth organisation in eMbalenhle receives computers

“With these computers that we received, we are looking forward in working with the youth of eMbalenhle to equip them with free computer skills.”

The Mpumalanga Youth Council Organisation received 16 computers from a Gauteng computer company on Thursday, August 26.

Ms Angel Maphalala, the organisation’s manager, said their organisation focuses on empowering the youth of Govan Mbeki Municipality, specifically the unemployed.

She said their organisation depends on donations from individuals and private companies.

“With these computers that we received, we are looking forward in working with the youth of eMbalenhle to equip them with free computer skills. They will be using internet for free and there will be lessons for those who want to equip themselves with computer skills.

“We want to begin teaching young people how to use a computer from Grade 5. We want to partner with other companies and organisations to assist those young people who completed their matric but who are not studying working, to give them access to computers and the internet to search for opportunities,” said Ms Maphalala.

She said they want to change the lives of young people.

They began the organisation out of their own pockets. They saw a need because the majority of young people cannot afford taxi fare to go seek information.

Their organisation also provides a feeding scheme for the poor and unemployed.

The organisation operates out of Ext 26, eMbalenhle.

They can be contacted on 081 545 4102.
