Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club hosted Secretary’s Day at the Blue Bayou Restaurant on September 1.
The day’s event saw secretaries being treated to a gift bag, three-course meal, a gin bar and a couple of games with supporting prizes.
Mr Pieter De Villiers, general manager of Graceland, opened the event by welcoming all the secretaries and said that this was their day and a way to show appreciation for all they do.
Guest speaker was Ms Fofo Lerefolo who is a journalist by profession, PR and marketing specialist and media studies lecturer at the University of Tshwane.
She said that the world is so caught up in the current pandemic that one tends to forget about life and living a little.
“We have lost people, neighbours, colleagues, friends and loved ones to Covid-19.
“Covid-19 has robbed us. We are living in a time of fear, depression and stress, so much so that we forget to live a little.
“We want our lives back. Let us bring light back into our lives,” said Ms Lerefolo. She said one must learn to leave negative energy behind and focus on positive things in life.
“Look for something to do. Change hobbies, meet new people, dress up, change hairstyles or keep busy.
“There is nothing wrong with giving back and helping people, but do not forget about yourself. Celebrate yourself and live a little. It is free and fun,” concluded Ms Lerefolo.
