EXCLUSIVE ONLINE – Local learners attend Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp
The learners met new people and made friends, learned new skills and faced their fears. They understand how they can give back to the community, who has given them the opportunity to attend the camp.
ERMELO – Ermelo Phoenix Rotary Club sent six learners from three local schools to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (Ryla) camp in Magoebaskloof over the weekend of August 18–22.
The learners met and interacted with others from other parts of the country as well as members of Rotary throughout the district.
The camp was about the growth of young adults and becoming more confident individuals in all aspects of life.
The learners participated in activities that were tough and challenging, and pushed them out of their comfort zones.
Ms Libby Hagemann, the treasurer of the Ermelo Phoenix Rotary Club, said the learners all excelled and took on every challenge with enthusiasm and passion.
She said the learners participated in night hikes, team games, flag making, potjie competitions, underground mazes, high rope courses and lots more.
The learners met new people and made friends, learned new skills and faced their fears.
They understand how they can give back to the community, who has given them the opportunity to attend the camp.
Ermelo Phoenix Rotary would like to thank the Ermelo community for the support during their Family Day Fun Run in April.
With the funds raised from this event, they could send the learners to the camp.
