Fill a shoebox and fill a child’s heart with joy

Visit website and begin collecting items for a gift.

 Residents who want to give back to the community and support a child in need, can begin by visiting the website of the Santa Shoebox Project.

Ms Gerda Peuckert, who has been organising this project in Secunda for many years, said pledging opened on the website on 1 September.

Residents can visit the website, https://santashoebox.org.za/ choose a child they want to spoil for Christmas, pack a shoebox with gifts and a few necessary items, wrap it nicely and drop it off on November 6 and 7 at Laerskool Goedehoop.

The items that your shoebox must contain include a toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, a facecloth, school supplies, a toy, sweets and an outfit of clothing.

Ms Peuckert said this year they are aiming to fill and collect 230 shoe boxes and it will go to less privileged children of Laerskool Trichardt, the Cosmos Kriel Orphanage, Janelle Huis of Safety, Light of Light Nursery School in Piet Retief and Happyness Daycare Centre in Trichardt.
