Carolina police discuss crime awareness with learners

The topics that were discussed were substance abuse, sexual offenses, bullying and gangsterism.

CAROLINA – Carolina police along with the Department of Social Development and members of the Greater Rape Intervention Project conducted a crime awareness campaign at Violet Jiyane Secondary School on September 16.

The topics that were discussed were substance abuse, sexual offenses, bullying and gangsterism.

Sgt Thabang Mokwana,spokesman of the Carolina police, said learners were encouraged to speak up and report rape and other sexual offenses against them.

“They were warned against bullying, the use of substances, gangsterism and the effects of crime,” he said.

He concluded role players emphasized the importance of education and remaining disciplined.
