Water level at Grootdraai Dam dips slightly

Even though the situation looks much better than the same period last year when the levels stood at 68,2%, the department urged the public to continue using water in a conservative manner.

The DWS weekly state of reservoirs report showed that the average levels dropped from 80,4% to 79,7%, as recorded on September 6.

In the Gert Sibande District, Grootdraai Dam dropped from 79,3% to 78,9%, Nooitgedacht from 95,0% to 94,7%, Vygeboom from 92,9% to 92,0%, Jericho from 70,5% to 70,3%, Morgenstond from 84,0% to 83,6%, Westoe from 56,6% to 54,5% and Heyshope from 84,4% to 84,2%.

According to their report of September 20, levels dropped from 79.1% to 78.2%.

Their statement concluded with saying the situation is still much better than the same situation last year when the levels stood at 66.7%.

The department encouraged the public to continue using water wisely and in a more conservative manner, especially in light of the increased evaporation due to the increasing temperatures.
