The National Artisan Moderation Body (Namb) evaluates the performance of accredited trade test centres.

A red carpet and the ambience in the hall testified to the importance of the ceremony.

A competition was held among artisans to proceed from regional level to provincial level and finally, national level.

The Standerton Advertiser had the chance to speak to Mr David Mohlamme, national team leader from Pretoria.

“This is the Olympics for artisans,” he said.

“It is an effort from government to train more artisans for South Africa.”

Mr Mohlamme emphasised that industry has to come on board to open doors for the students.

According to him, practical training is needed from business as a whole.
