According to the statement, more than 365 suspects were arrested over the past week on various charges including murder, assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, rape, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles, dealing in drugs, business robberies, armed robberies, house robberies, selling liquor without licences, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and theft.

Their cases are before various courts across the province.

Some of these suspects were issued with hefty fines.

The operation is ongoing under the theme ‘Extending our reach through blue light visibility’ where high visibility is the order of the day, including at certain areas of interest.

Lieut-Gen Manamela urged the community to refrain from seeking assistance, especially from strangers, not to display money in public, avoid buying suspected stolen items and try to keep personal items inside their cars, away from where anybody can see.

It is also advisable for people to always observe their surroundings and immediately report any suspicious criminal activity to the authorities.
