Storm destroys disabled man’s shack at eMbalenhle

“I have lost everything and I don’t even have a place to sleep.”

Mr Mxolisi Nkosi from Azania informal settlement in Ext 22, eMbalenhle, needs help after his shack was destroyed in a storm on Saturday, December 4.

Mr Nkosi entered his shack when he noticed that rain was coming. A heavy storm errupted.

Mr Nkosi saw his two corrugated roof sheets moving, then the whole shack was gone.

“As a disable person, I had the shock of my life when I realised that my shack is gone and the rain fell on me.

“I became wet not knowing what to do. I have lost all my documents, including my identity document which I need when withdrawing my disability grant.

“I have lost everything and I don’t even have a place to sleep,” said a despondent Mr Nkosi.

“My neighbour gave me a temporary shelter to sleep but if I can get someone who can help me to rebuild my shack, I will be happy,

“I don’t even know where are my other corrugated sheets that had been flown away by the storm,” said Mr Nkosi.

He will also be happy to have an RDP house because his condition.

That day’s heavy rain left many people in despair. Some worked throughout the night to remove the water from their homes..
