Attend and vote at ward committee elections for GMM

All residents are urged to participate in this programme.

Ward committee elections in all 32 wards will be conducted by Govan Mbeki Municipality.

It is required as per Section 73 of the Local Government: Municipal Structures Act 117 of 1998, that municipalities must establish ward committees as a primary means to enhance participatory democracy.

These ward committees provide an important link between ward councillors, the community and the municipality.

They allow for members of communities to participate in municipal planning, monitoring and budgeting to address their direct needs.

Ward committees also help improve communication between the municipality and communities.

All residents are urged to participate in this programme.
