Hard work reaps rewards for 2021 matrics in the Govan Mbeki municipal area

Chenelle of Hoogies obtain full marks for Mathematics.

Hoërskool Hoogenhout achieved a 98.3% pass rate for 2021 and 83.7% of their matrics passed with university exemption.

Hoogenhout’s matrics obtained 64 distinctions all together and their top achiever, Chenelle Roux, who was also the head girl last year, obtained seven distinctions.

She was also invited to the Mpumalanga Education Department’s prize giving and received an award for getting full marks for mathematics.

She is also among the Top 10 learners in Mpumalanga with her average of 94.5%.

Carinlize Muller and Liberty Kapungu also obtained seven distinctions while Franzé Berry, Chaima Khayati and Panache Maguwu obtained six distinctions each and Iné Pieterse obtained four.

Hoërskool Secunda’s matrics of 2021 achieved the best results in the region with a 96.18% pass rate and 76.13% of this school’s matrics passed with university exemption.

Hoërskool Secunda matrics received 126 distinctions all together and the top achievers are Grace Thanjan with nine distinctions, Amanda Retief, Cara Strydom, Henri Viljoen and Anugrha Prakash with eight distinctions each, Ntokozo Soko with seven distinctions, Ayur Rampersadh and Lisa Venter with six distinctions each, Daniel Banze with five distinctions and Carla Fagan, Marisa Moodley and Luke Nobrega with four distinctions each.

Hoërskool Oosterland had a 5.5% higher matric pass rate for 2021 than the previous year.

Oosterland’s spokesman, Ms Liné de Vries, said despite the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021 the learners and teachers of Oosterland put in hard work and achieved excellent results.

Oosterland achieved a 93.4% pass rate and 113 distinctions.

The top achievers are Patrick Muanza with six distinctions, Timica Isaacs and Charlize Ehlers with five distinctions each and Michelle Deysel, Dominic Grobler, Leandi Steyn, Adéle Wolmarans, Snethemba Zulu, Carly Lekoro and Catherine Esterhuyse with four distinctions each.

Highveld Park High School achieved a pass rate of 90.6% and their top learner, Melusi Mahlangu obtained four distinctions.
Sameeah Adigun obtained three distinctions.

Hoërskool Evander High School achieved a pass rate of 85.6% and their top achiever is Thandolwethu Shongwe with five distinctions.

Nzuzo Mtsweni obtained four distinctions and Ntiyiso Nyambi obtained three distinctions.

The Highveld Muslim School in Kinross top achievers are Juweiriah Osman and Amara Latib who obtained five distinctions each.

This year’s best achiever from Ikusasalethu Secondary School in eMbalenhle is Sinethemba Mtsweni who obtained five distinctions.

He achieved As in Isizulu, English first additional language, mathematics, life science and physical science.

He will be studying towards a bachelors degree in science at Wits University.

Samuel Nkosi obtained distinctions in maths, life science and English first additional language.

He is still waiting for response from the University of Cape town where he wants to study electrical engineering.
