UPDATES AND VIDEOS: Car and truck collide on N17 near Leandra – both end up in river

The road is currently closed. 

 

UPDATE: FEBRUARY 5, 2022

Delta 1 Rescue Diving retrieved another body this morning from the accident scene in the river.

The body is believed to be the passenger of the truck, but police have yet to confirm this.

UPDATE

Delta 1 Rescue Diving has found one body thus far. 

The car has been recovered and the recovery of the truck is underway.

The N17 has just been reopened.

A car and truck collided on the N17 just before the Leandra toll gate at about 13.35 today, February 3.

One person was rushed to hospital with minor injuries.

It is not yet know if there are any fatalities as the both truck and car are still in the river.

Emergency services and Delta 1 Rescue Diving are currently on scene. The road is currently closed. Drive with caution in both directions.
