Ishara Pillay from Standerton publishes her second book
Writing has definitely made her more observant and she is usually looking for new ideas for her next book.
Ms Ishara Pillay, the night owl, still gets her ideas for writing in those hours before and after midnight.
She is the author of 2020, which was launched at a coffee shop in Standerton and Alyssa’s Secret is now hot off the press.
This teacher from Standerton Primary School focused in her first book on the isolation during the pandemic.
“My passion for writing has been ignited,” Ms Pillay said when she was previously interviewed.
“I got very good reviews, though it was a humbling experience.
“My family however, was thrilled.”
Ishara was prepared to divulge some of the background to her second book.
“It is a work of fiction inspired by true-life experiences of people.
“I felt the need to make people aware of these (sic) social ills and break the silence.”
The book was completed in less than a year.
Ishara reflected that writing has given her a new-found confidence and that she is more open-minded nowadays.

Writing has definitely made her more observant and she is usually looking for new ideas for her next book.
Her style revolves around texting notes on her phone before attempting the narrative.
Ishara’s love for reading has increased along with appreciating the work of other authors.
She is of the opinion that everybody has the ability to write a book, but those who write and publish a book, made a start.
“Begin and write your first page, write another page and before long, you would have your first chapter,” was the advice given to aspiring writers.
On a sober note, she does not take life for granted any more.
“I appreciate everything and everyone around me.”
