“I am a scholar, and guru in education and politics, the world of today and tomorrow is the world of space, exploration of technical know how.”

Kenny Nkosi (59), from Kinross, is appointed as one of the South African Council for Educators (SACE) panellists.

Nkosi’s role will be to investigate complaints against educators, preside over their disciplinary hearings, mediate over disputes between colleagues and any ancillary functions that he may be required to carry out as requested by SACE.

Nkosi holds three degrees from different universities, an honours degree and a master’s degree in political science from Pretoria University and obtained his BA degree from the University of Zululand.

“We no longer depend on routine learning, but on skills and research and we must start to educate for renewal,” said Nkosi.

Nkosi is a former teacher of Ampie Mayisa Secondary School in Lebohang with 30 years of teaching experience.

“As a panellist, my work is to deal with conflicts of educators countrywide and I am one of the four panellists countrywide from Mpumalanga.

“I can’t forget the support I receive from my wife, Dorcus who is also a teacher at Petrus Maziya Primary School in Lebohang and my three children,” said Nkosi.

Nkosi obtained his teacher’s diploma from the former Mgwenya College of education in Nelspruit.

He is planning to enrol for his master’s degree before he can retire and also wants to encourage young and old to keep on studying.

His ambition is to be a lecturer at a university.
