Grootdraai Dam in Standerton stands at 93,1%

The department reminded and encouraged the public at the beginning of National Water Month to use water wisely and sparingly.

Water levels in the listed dams in the Gert Sibande District improved.

Most of the dams in Mpumalanga recorded improvements, except for the Vygeboom Dam, which remained unchanged over the past week.

According to the department of water and sanitation’s state of reservoirs report of February 28, Grootdraai Dam slightly improved from 101,0% to 101,4%, Nooitgedacht increased from 90,8% to 92,6%, Jericho from 99,6% to 99,7%, Westoe from 98,7% to 99,9%, Morgenstond from 99,3% to 99,7%, Heyshope from 100,3% to 100,5% and Vygeboom remained unchanged at 100,6%.

In terms of the provincial overview, the average water in storage slightly increased from last week’s 92,9% to 93,1%.

The department reminded and encouraged the public at the beginning of National Water Month to use water wisely and sparingly.

They also reminded the community that South Africa is a water-scarce country and said it is the responsibility of all citizens to conserve water, and protect water resources and prevent its pollution.
