Bapsfontein Hotel hosts fun day
“The fundraiser is a way for the community to help us get that dime in the dust back to what it was,” says the event organiser, Jadine Dique.
Community members hosted a fun day at the dancing hall of the old Bapsfontein on Saturday, March 26.
Trodam Shires took their stunning Friesian horse named Neil to take the kids and parents on a cart ride.
Face paint, boerewors rolls and a jumping castle was also part of the entertainment.
The Saturday fun day is all about getting the building back on track.
“It is the shop owners’ way to bring back the so loved Bapsfontein Hotel,” said organiser Jadine Dique.
“As a fundraiser for the building, we have activities on Saturdays and will be having our first market day on April 30.”
The old Bapsfontein Hotel has an endless history of fun nights and events.
The building is more than 100 years old and has had some work done.
“Those years everyone one knew that you could come here to dance and celebrate with the basket dances that used to be every Saturday,” said Dique.
A new community has taken over the hotel and revamped the old dancing hall into a shopping mall, with a wide variety of shops to visit including J.D Professional Nails and Beauty Studio, Western General dealer & Dairy, Amazing Sweets & jewelry, Bapsfontein Meat Co, Gifted Professional tailor and Wool&More.
