Taekwon-Do fighters from Bronkhorstspruit and Rayton win medals in tournaments
All students competed in the patterns, weapon patterns, weapon sparing, special techniques and board focus kicking events to win a tournament medal.
Two Taekwon-Do tournaments were held at the Cullinan Sports Centre on April 2.
In the Tiny Tiger Tournament, 23 Taekwon-Do students entered and in the Avengers Tournament 24 students entered.
These two tournaments were running simultaneously.
All students from Rayton and Cullinan ATC Taekwon-Do clubs under Bsb Justin Collett competed.
Lucas Naudé represented ATC Constanta Park. He received a gold medal.
All students competed in the patterns, weapon patterns, weapon sparing, special techniques and board focus kicking events to win a tournament medal.
“All five events had to be completed to earn a tournament medal of achievement,” said Collett.
The results in the Tiny Tiger Tournament for ages four to 11 years were outstanding when adding up the scores of each participant.
ATC Rayton obtained two gold and two silver from their four competitors.
ATC Cullinan obtained 15 gold medals.
In the Avengers Tournament, only one competitor from ATC Rayton obtained a silver medal.
ATC Cullinan won 16 gold and seven silver medals.
“The competition was a great success for the community of Cullinan and Rayton, as tournaments of this structure are usually a distance away,” said Collett.
Bsb Collett is impressed with his students’ performance as they are now preparing for grading taking place at the end of April. From there they will compete in tournaments in Johannesburg.
“A special thanks to Petra Diamond Mine for the sports centre and everyone’s contribution to this event,” said Collett.
