Police inform motorists after sharp increase in blue light hijackings on N12

Members gathered at the Petroport filling stations on the N12 where they informed motorists about crime tips and how to act when pulled over by “bogus police officers.

The Delmas Police, together with members of the Community Policing Forum and Community in Blue, distributed pamphlets on Friday, May 13 with the main purpose to inform motorists about so-called bogus police officers.

This followed the increase of blue light hijacks on the N12 between Delmas and eMalahleni (Witbank).

Streeknuus reported in the edition of May 13 on this frightening criminal tactic used by hijackers.

The suspects impersonate police officers, make use of police vehicles fitted with blue lights and sirens and end up kidnapping and robbing unsuspecting drivers, especially en route between Delmas and eMalahleni.

“Members gathered at the Petroport filling stations, North and South on the N12 where they informed motorists on crime tips and how to act when pulled over by these “bogus police officers,” said Capt Carla Hartley, media spokesperson for Delmas Police.
