Lintle for the Youth plays chess in eMbalenhle to fight GBV
Our organisation aim is to create gender-just and building a violence free societies for young people.
The Lintle for the Youth organisation held a chess tournament for girls in an attempt to combat gender injustice and to empower young girls with critical thinking strategies at eMbalenhle Sasol Club on Saturday, July 9.
According to Lerato Mokoena, an organisation director, the tournament aims to raise thinking strategies among young people and prepare them for the coming workshop in collaboration with other stakeholders.
“Our organisation aims to create gender justice and to build a violence-free society for young people.
“Together with our stakeholders, we engage in innovative strategies that equip young people with leadership skills to handle societal problems such as GBV,” said Mokoena.
Lintle for the Youth participated in different global conferences in Nairobi, the South African Mining Indaba, the United Kingdom mentorship programme, Global Citizen and other global events.
The organisation was established seven years ago in Lekwa Municipality and expanded to all the municipalities in the Gert Sibande District.
Mokoena said the goal of the organisation is to grow nationally or even globally as they are currently part of the presidential GBV-NSP 2022 summit that will be held in November this year.
