A woman (23) was arrested for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend (30) to death in Trichardt at about 22:30 on Sunday night, July 24.
According to a media statement by the provincial police commissioner in Mpumalanga, Lieut- Gen Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, the couple had an argument that spiralled into a fight.
The neighbours had apparently tried to intervene but to no avail. The fight ended with the man stabbed to death.
The police and paramedics were called to the scene and the victim was certified dead.
The police opened a murder case and arrested the suspect who is expected to appear at the Secunda Magistrate’s Court soon for murder.
Lieut-Gen Manamela condemned the incident.
She urged the public to make use of social services whenever they come across some challenges in their relationships rather than trying to resolve the issues through violence.
“Violence has never resolved any problem. It will lead to undesired consequences.
“We can never condone violence as a solution to any challenge.
“Domestic Violence continues to take lives of many in our society and we need to join hands to fight the scourge.
“The suspect has since been arrested and we hope that the law will take its course” said the general.
