SECUNDA – The SAVF Child and Youth Care Centre in Secunda officially opened its doors on Tuesday, October 25.
This achievement was celebrated on Monday evening, October 24. This centre can accommodate 24 children and four babies.
Secunda had a big need for such a safe place for children and there is already five children at the centre.
Maria Scholtz, head of marketing for the SAVF, said the staff members at the centre and the community worked together to make this dream a reality.
“This new home for children in need of care and protection, will make an immense difference in many children’s lives,” said Scholtz.
The Secunda branch of the Round Table donated a generator to the centre and R73 600 were raised to support the centre.
Mari Louw, Regional Manager of the SAVF, thanked the community and every sponsor and person who contributed to opening the centre.
The centre’s logo symbolises that this facility will offer children a roof over their heads to keep danger away, walls to protect them, cornerstones of faith to prepare them for the future and the heart symbolises warmth and belonging for every child that enters this home.
The management of the SAVF in Secunda invited the community to be involved in the future with the maintenance and development of the centre and to become a volunteer.
