Murderer from Standerton sentenced to life imprisonment

Delmas High Court sentenced Siyabonga Ndlozi to life imprisonment plus five years on Friday, November 11.

The charges were murder and contravention of a protection order.

According to police, Ndlozi (25) was in an abusive relationship with Silindokuhle Nkonde (21).

The victim applied for a protection order that was granted to her.

They had an argument on March 14 and the victim told the accused that she had aborted their unborn child.

Police said Ndlozi became angry and told her that since she killed their child, they should both die and follow their child.

He collected a rope from the main house, assaulted the victim until she was unconscious and then tied the rope on the roof and hanged her.

The accused also tried to kill himself using the same rope, but his family arrived and saved him.

Nkonde was certified dead on the scene.

Ndlozi was arrested, his bail opposed successfully and he was in custody until his sentencing.
