‘No problem, we are on,’ say 65 parkrunners in Standerton
Chuhla Phago crossed the finish line in a time of 23:26, while Johan Ferreira clocked in at 26:21.
A total of 65 participants decided on Saturday, November 25 to take on the 5km at the Standerton River Park, knowing full well the route will be treacherous.
Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, run director, urged them to take care after the rain that fell the previous evening.
Some volunteers and participants sported moustaches for a Movember-theme. Five athletes improved their times and two new faces were seen.
Chuhla Phago crossed the finish line in a time of 23:26, while Johan Ferreira clocked in at 26:21.
Mbuso Mazibuko completed the distance in 27:27, followed by Hanlie Els, a first-timer, who registered 28:08.
Theo Schönfeldt ended the distance in 31:54, Attie Claassens in 32:47 and Kobus Koekemoer in 32:49.
Pomesan Govender’s time was 35:15 and Brendan Archer reached the finish line in 37:24.
Francois Streicher, Frans Vermaak, Jennifer Naidoo, Johannes Vosloo, Krishnalal Ramdharee, Priscilla Ramdharee, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Sylvy Moodley and Willy Smith took up positions to ensure a safe and smooth event.
The parkrun is free of charge and participants can either run, jog or walk on Saturdays at 08:00.
