Robbery suspect who was wounded in shoot out with eMba and Secunda Police dies in hospital
The Jeep Wrangler and other items were including a fire-arm were recovered from the suspects.
eMBALENHLE – A suspected robber was shot and wounded on Saturday, November 26, and later died in hospital.
The deceased was allegedly part of a robbery gang. He and two others allegedly gained entry into the backyard of a house in Secunda that day by breaking open the burglar bars.
They were armed with guns and knives and overpowered the homeowner and his wife. A gun was pointed at the couple and they were tied with ropes.
The suspects stole cellphones, a tv, computers and other items from the house and fled in the couple’s Jeep. The Jeep was recovered in Ext 18, eMbalenhle.

eMbalenhle Police spokesperson, Constable Busi Mthethwa, said during the suspects’ arrest in eMbalenhle, one was shot when he retaliated by shooting at the police.
The Jeep Wrangler and other items, including a firearm, were recovered from the suspects. According to Mthethwa, the value of the items is estimated at more than R100 000.
Mthethwa said charges of house robbery, theft and the possession of the suspected stolen property are being investigated and the suspects will soon be before court.
According to her, a second stolen bakkie was also recovered on the same day and two suspects were also arrested.
