Standerton Hospital gets new pharmacy
New Demark Coliery ploughs back into community.
Seriti’s New Denmark Colliery in Standerton, handed over a new pharmacy to Standerton Hospital on Wednesday, November 30.
The current pharmacy that the hospital was utilising, did not provide a conducive environment and service delivery to the community and did not achieve the required standards.
This new pharmacy will address all the difficulties the hospital faced in terms of properly serving the community.
The Standerton Hospital pharmacy, forms part of the New Denmark Colliery Social and Labour Plan commitments and is one of the many projects that the colliery undertook.
This project reflects the colliery’s value of transformation for the benefit of all stakeholders, which the management team of the colliery reckons is critical to the success and integrity of their business.

The acting mayor of Lekwa Municipality, Siepati Modise, expressed her gratitude to the colliery and said the Standerton Hospital Pharmacy will help in improving service delivery and making a difference in the Lekwa communities.
“This is a legacy project that will continue to thrive long after the life of the colliery has ended,” said Modise.
The HR manager of the colliery, E Mphahlele, said it is important to partner and work together with all stakeholders as their employees come from the very communities they support and empower.
“The colliery will continue to help the communities through meaningful and sustainable projects,” said Mphahlele.
The project was awarded to a local contractor to the value of R2.9 million.
