Kosmos Retirement Village management is thankful to dedicated staff

Nurses and others often work long hours.

“You will see them talking softly with ‘Ouma’, rubbing her feet and hands with care, helping her to eat or shower, walking with her in the beautiful gardens and sometimes you hear them singing in heavenly voices to their dear frail elderly.

“Then, when a resident dies, they will cry and before they can catch their breath, the next bell will call them to attend to another resident.

“They are also tasked with caring for the residents living in townhouses, flats and other housing units on the premises.

“Whenever they are needed, they care with compassion.”

These angels are supported by a few cleaning and laundry staff, handymen and office staff. Sanpat Coetzee said all of them are committed to give and be the best for the residents.

“They are just as passionate as their nursing care colleagues and they are the engine that drives this machine.

“When the official working day or night is over, you will find them helping with fundraising events or other Kosmos activities while they are still smiling, dressed in their merry ‘Friday’ Kosmos pinkish shirts.

“They spend long hours voluntarily preparing for functions and events, baking pancakes, selling ‘vetkoek’, cleaning afterwards or just supporting in any way they can.

“What a special breed they are, the Kosmos Retirement Village’s angels.”
