Maki Annah gives birth to triplets in Standerton
Maki Annah lost two children in the past and the scan originally only showed two fetuses, the little girl was in hiding.
Maki Annah Mkhuma gave birth to triplets, two boys and one girl, in Standerton Hospital on February 5.
“It is a miracle,” a smiling Sister Busi Vilakazi said.
The Standerton Advertiser visited this Sotho-woman from Balfour on February 6 to capture the little ones on camera and talk to the mother.
The post-natal ward was abuzz with nursing staff making sure the other mothers and their offspring are comfortable before lunch was delivered.

“The babies are healthy, no jaundice and the mother is well, but she only wanted the father to be present at the photo shoot,” said Vilakazi.
Dr Mourad Zayadi, who safely delivered them by cesarean section, also arrived at the ward.
It was out on the stoep where the light was better, with the triplets behaving admirably from being lifted from the bed into the nursing staff’s arms.
Bandile Nhlapo was due to arrive from Balfour later in the afternoon and Dorkas Madlabane from the administration offered to solve the dilemma by sending photos of him.
Hospital charts indicated the arrival of the triplets at 11:25, weighing 2.2kg, one at 11:28, weighing 1.8kg and finally one at 11:30, weighing 2kg.

Makhi Annah’s family of two boys and a girl is now complimented with three young ones.
Sister Ntokozi Hadebe and Sister Tim Roelofse, who came from her office, closely watched the patients.
A plaintive cry could be heard later near breastfeeding time and the mother’s instinct immediately took over.
The young ones indeed ruled the roost. Maki Annah and her babies were discharged by February 9.
