Cedric ‘The Dominator’ Doyle from Secunda to fight in Dubai

Local fighter is determined to win fight.

Local Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, Cedric Doyle, better known as ‘The Dominator’ in the fighting ring, will be fighting in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on February 24.

Very few fighters have achieved what Doyle has achieved at the age of 39, which is the age when most professional MMA fighters retire or are already retired.

Dolye said he worked hard and exercised for 12 years to reach this level of fighting. Most professional fighters practise the sport full time, yet Doyle still works full time as a quality controller at Sasol and only exercises in his free time.

Even brain surgery in 2016, after Doyle found out he had bleeding in the brain because of a previous fight, did not stop him from reaching his full potential in the fighting ring.

His MMA manager informed him about a month ago that he will be fighting in Dubai against full-time professional fighter Amed Faress (31) from Egypt in the UAE Warrior 35 Africa 4 Championship.

“I feel very blessed to get this opportunity. I expect to win that fight and then fight for the belt,” said Doyle.

“I began training even harder in the last couple of weeks.”

Doyle believes that whether he wins or loses, the Lord still has the best for him in store and will determine his path.

“I want to enjoy myself and just do my best.”

He exercises during his lunch break and in the afternoons after work.

He does a lot of sparring and conditioning at this moment in preparation for the highlight of his fighting career.

Doyle also goes running as often as he can, up to 10km at times.

He also walked away as the champion last year after he won his fight against Pierre Botha in April. Botha held the title as South African wrestling champion 37 times.

Before Doyle faced Botha, he took a back seat from the ring for two years and focused on training other fighters at his club in Secunda, Dominator’s Den.

When the opportunity arose to face Botha, The Dominator could not resist the challenge and got back in the ring.

His fighting career began in 2009. He has experience in kickboxing, Brazillian Jui Jitsu, wrestling and Muay Thai fighting.

Doyle thanked his fellow fighters at Dominator’s Den for all their support. You can subscribe to UFC Fightpass to view his fight at 18:00.
