Loyal participants out of the blocks at Standerton River Park

Sinkho Mzizi registered a time of 22:13, followed by Andiswamahlubi Hadebe, who crossed the finish line in 24:43.

Altogether 59 participants joined the Standerton parkrun on April 22 to complete the 5km.

Johan Ferreira recorded a time of 24:54, while Theo Schönfeldt came in at 25:13. Mbuso Mazibuko’s time was 26:09 and that of Wassie Rossouw was 27:35.

Humbulani Ramaru completed the distance in 27:48, followed by Parth Jayram in his 50th park run in 27:48.

Mienke van Niekerk recorded a new personal best of 27:58 and Jané van Niekerk a new personal best of 28:20.

Run director Renette de Sousa invited parkrunners to the Freedom Day event and said, amid laughter, that anything can be worn, but not to be undressed.

Antoinette Herbst, Conrie Roets, Ishara Pillay, Kay Pillay, Krishnalal Ramdharee, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Lydia Roets, Priscilla Ramdharee, Ronnie Moodley, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Sylvy Moodley, Vanita Moodley, Wessel Herbst, Willy Smith and Zeldine Strydom ensured the participants enjoyed a safe, smooth event.

Standerton River Park hosts this free event every Saturday at 08:00, offering the choice of running, jogging or walking.
