Many enjoy the Standerton parkrun
Eighty-four people ran, jogged or walked the 5km route of the Standerton parkrun at River Park on February 10. Among these participants, 13 improved their personal best times. Juniors out for a fun run to kick off their day dominated the front-runners group. Siyabonga Kamhelo ran a fast race to finish the route ahead of anyone else. However, his time could not be clocked because he ran without his tag.
Young Kaywen Human was the first tagged participant to cross the finish line, setting his personal best time of 20:34.
Andiswamahlubi Hadebe, also a junior, finished in 24:56. Concy Kgopa from the Eskom Athletic Club ended seventh (25:07,) followed by Welcome Mfanawethu Ndlangisa (25:16), John van der Voort (25:45), Jané van Niekerk (25:48), Parth Jayram (27:02), Mienke van Niekerk (27:22), Theo Schönfeldt (27:25), Wassie Rossouw (28:14) and Christiaan de Beer (28:47).
The volunteers, who made this event possible, are Renette de Sousa, Preyanka Dorasamy, Sonja Fouche, Marius Kilian, Sylvy Moodley, Jennifer Naidoo, Strini Naidoo, Conrie Roets, Lydia Roets, Lorinda Smith, Zeldine Strydom, Frans Vermaak, Ruwan Vermaak, and Johannes Vosloo.
The parkrun takes place at River Park every Saturday at 08:00.
