Parkrunners in Standerton push for new personal bests

After a daunting 5km route, five people improved their personal best times and five runners celebrated their first parkrun.

Several participants gathered to celebrate the 245th Standerton River Park parkrun on May 11.

After a daunting 5km route, five people improved their personal best times and five runners celebrated their first parkrun.

Tshiamo Lephoto finished the run in 16:33. Mbali Nkutha finished her second parkrun in a time of 25:34.

Pieter Grobbelaar crossed the finish line in a time of 26:51, followed by Daleney Grobbelaar (27:01) and André Minnaar (30:19).

Jose Joseph set a new personal best time of 30:31. Fayaaz Pochee was a first-timer, pushing on and finishing the run in 32:17.

The volunteers who made this event possible are Charl van Wyk, Frans Vermaak, Jennifer Naidoo, Johannes Vosloo, Krishnalal Ramdharee, Leandri van Wyk, Lia Niemand, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Marjorie Uys, Priscilla Ramdharee, Renette da Sousa, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Strini Naidoo and Sylvy Moodley.
The parkrun takes place every Saturday at 08:00 at the Standerton River Park.
