Standerton parkrun sees runners set new PBs
Two athletes improved their times at this free event open to runners, joggers and walkers.

Runners, joggers and walkers gathered on May 25 for the 247th River Park parkrun. Some 53 participants joined the event, with two newcomers and eight runners achieving new personal bests.
Siphiwe Motaung completed his third parkrun with a new personal best (PB) time of 18:11. Mthokozisi Sehbiko followed him with a new PB of 23:20, and Andiswamahluni Hadebe finished in 26:00.
First-timer Elihle Zikalala finished in 26:20, followed by Daleney Grobbelaar (26:21), Pieter Grobbelaar (26:47), Andrew Ainsworth (27:47), Jose Joseph (29:42) and newcomer Eugene Viljoen (30:40).
The volunteers who made this event possible were Charl van Wyk, Conrie Roets, Jennifer Naidoo, Johannes Vosloo, Krishnalal (Johnny) Ramdharee, Lizette Janse van Rensburg, Lydiea Roets, Megan Craven, Renette da Sousa, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Strini Naidoo, Sylvy Moodley, Willy Smith and Zeldine Strydom.

Altogether 47 participants arrived at the Standerton River Park on June 1 for the Saturday morning exercise.

Frans Vermaaak completed the parkrun in a time of 30:50, while Jose Joseph registered 31:21 and Bijo David 34:14. Elmien Vermaak recorded 34:57, Vuyiswa Maboea 37:33 and Reanetse Given 39:00.
Catherine le Roux, Conrie Roets, Gerhardus le Roux, Johannes Vosloo, Krishnalal Ramdharee, Lia Niemand, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Lydia Roets, Nicky Niemand, Priscilla Ramdharee, Renette de Sousa, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg and Zeldine Strydom took up positions to ensure a safe and smooth event.
