Benzi Soko from Secunda is now NCOP spokesperson in parliament

Soko authored the book Ruffling Feathers about politics in South Africa.

From being a manager in the Govan Mbeki Municipality (GMM) speaker’s office, Benzi Soko has landed the role of parliamentary spokesman for the National Council of Provinces.

Soko is also a former chief of staff at GMM and was the national spokesperson for the Police Prison Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) in 2007.

He was first employed as the manager in the office of the municipal speaker in 2009 before he was appointed chief of staff.


Benzi Soko is now a parliamentary spokesman for the National Council of Provinces.

Soko possesses a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree obtained from the University of Johannesburg in 1997, and an Advanced Diploma in Labour Law also from the University of Johannesburg in 2004.

Soko authored the book Ruffling Feathers about politics in South Africa. He took up his work in parliament earlier this month.

“I am ready to face new challenges. I always like to learn new things, though I’m not new to the communication field. My experience and knowledge will play a major role in performing my duties in my new role,” said Soko.
