Competitors take on Tri-FUN-der at Unicor Dam
The triathlon consisted of running, cycling and horse riding.
Athletes competed in the annual Tri-FUN-der at the FCR Farm near Unicor Dam in Evander on October 19.
The triathlon consisted of running, cycling and horse riding. The solo event was a 5km run, 10km cycling and 10km horse riding.
In first place was Werner van Jaarsveld. In second place was Lillian Veldman. The team event also consisted of a 5km run, 10km cycling and 10km horse riding.
The winners were team SLJ’s Steven Prinsloo, Louis Eberson and Janico Hattingh. Second place was team Ice Age’s Zander Bezuidenhout, Swannie Swanepoel and Johan Bezuidenhout.

Third place were team Nia’s Ruan van der Merwe and Nia Lovese. The third category was a longer distance consisting of 5km running, 20km cycling and 20km horse riding.
First place were team BMW’s Ruan van der Merwe, Justin Engelbreght and Peet Hattingh. In second place were team Thunderbolts Sifizo Zulu, Justin Engelbreght and Sharnee Kesztler.
Third place were team LP’s Luckas Homan and Petrus du Plessis. The youngest participant was six-year-old Noah Van Schalkwyk.
The Tri-FUN-der aims to raise funds for horse riding and other outdoor activities the community can enjoy.
Funds raised on the day’s event will also go towards breast cancer.
