The Economic Freedom Fighters in Mpumalanga are accusing the Govan Mbeki Municipality of being corrupt.
According to a statement from the EFF, the municipality is plagued with fraud, corruption and maladministration and also fails to deliver services to its community.
The EFF said the section 106 forensic investigation report of the municipality three years ago revealed an extensive level of fraud and corruption but the report was swept under the carpet, even though the National Treasury recommended swift and decisive actions against the perpetrators.
The party said the lack of accountability is an insult to the community who always suffer from the poor service delivery and mismanagement.

The mayor, Nhlakanipho Zuma acknowledged the EFF’s statement.
Zuma said it is within their rights to raise their views and feelings and the municipal management is not going to challenge what has been written.
“We are a municipality that has all political parties as part of our council and things that they are raising through media are things that they are suppose to raise in council.
“There are processes they needed to follow to raise their concerns. If the EFF believes there’s corruption happening within the municipality, they should report that to the police,” said Zuma.
