Principals and businessmen in Secunda “arrested” for a good cause

Donations of non-perishable foods, toiletries and stationary made by schools and businesses during the Secunda Toyota "arrest" drive were handed over to the SAVF Secunda Child and Youth Care Centre, Janelle Huis – Child and Youth Care Centre and the Kriel Kinderhuis on October 30.

With sirens blaring, principals, coaches and local businessmen were “arrested” for a fundraiser by Secunda Toyota in support of local children’s homes, on October 25.

The “arrested” person’s bail was set at 1 000 items per school or business, of non-perishable foods, toiletries and school stationery.

It was all fun and games for learners who played along by hiding their coaches and principals. Local shoppers’ curiosity got the better of them when local businessmen were “arrested” at shopping centres.

All in the name of a good cause the target was reached, and the donations were handed over to the SAVF Secunda Child and Youth Care Centre, Janelle Huis – Child and Youth Care Centre and the Kriel Kinderhuis, on October 30.

“It was a tremendous success,” said Chris Morgenrood, manager of Secunda Toyota.

He gave a special thanks to local police, MavCorp High-Risk Response, learners, educators, principals, businessmen, Toyota personnel and everybody who jumped on board and made this project a success.
