Standerton girl wins second princess title in national pageant
Zinathi Mpila recently competed in the Tiny Little Miss South Africa pageant.
Zinathi Mpila recently competed in the Tiny Little Miss South Africa pageant. Zinathi is the youngest child and lives with her mother, father and older brother.
“She is the little princess in our family. She is my husband’s pride and joy,” explained Sinazo Mpila, her mother.
Zinathi is new to the world of pageantry as this was her first official pageant. However, she has always stood out as an extremely social individual.
According to Sinazo, she had realised Zinathi’s love of performing in pre-primary school while she was studying ballet and contemporary dance at Studio X.
She has also performed in the Kalie Karnallies concert for several years and has received two gold medals and a bronze medal in the English Orators speech competitions. When Zinathi grows up she wants to be an artist because drawing is currently one of her favourite activities.
“I enrolled her in the pageant to boost her confidence,” explained Sinazo.
During the voting stages of the pageant, she received support from family, friends, classmates and even the teachers from her school.
“Just the immense support she was getting already felt like a win,” said Sinazo.
She advanced to the grand finale at Blueberry Hill Hotel in Roodepoort on December 12. She won the title of Tiny Little Miss South Africa Second Princess.
“I was incredibly nervous for her because the other children had competed in multiple pageants and had professional coaches, while she was coached by me,” added Sinazo.
However, this did not hold Zinathi back. According to Sinazo, she enjoyed the moment and spent every second taking it all in.
“Immediately after the pageant she asked if she could enter another soon; maybe we will go for Little Miss Universe next,” concluded Sinazo.
