The body of a 9-year-old boy was found in the Welas River in eMbalenhle this morning (January 8).
The boy apparently drowned yesterday while playing with his friends next to the river.
The community and the eMbalenhle Police searched for a the child yesterday but did not find him.
Cattle herders alerted the community members this morning about a body floating in the river.
Police were also informed.
They are still on the scene waiting for pathologist to remove the body.
