Rain leaves Delmas Animal Shelter in need of blankets, dry food
With many stray animals in their care, owners Jolanda and Jorinda Verwey started the New Year needing dry blankets, food and any other donations related to the care of the animals left on their doorstep.
The Delmas Animal Shelter (DAS) urgently calls on the public to donate stock after persistent rain left the shelter in havoc.
With many stray animals in their care, owners Jolanda and Jorinda Verwey started the New Year needing dry blankets, food and any other donations related to the care of the animals left on their doorstep.
“The rain is very welcoming, but, unfortunately, we are left with the last set of dry blankets for our cats and, especially, dogs. Please consider buying us a grey blanket from PEP,” said Jolanda.
According to the two women, they prefer the Storm Grey blanket with grey stripes on both sides because it is warmer, more durable and large, meaning DAS can cut it in two.
DAS also needs dog kennels, wood pallets and unused building materials like cement, shade netting and fencing.

“If anyone from the public has any they are not using, please consider donating it to DAS. We need the public’s support to maintain a healthy and safe environment for the animals in our care.”
As the road access to DAS is fairly rough after the rain, DAS informed Streeknews that they have various drop-off points.
